Juror Notes: It is hard to miss the incisive, searching, and inspired drawing and design that underpins this painting. But it is the color that elevates it from being a recording of a modeling session. The color shimmers as it moves from warm to cool with subtle changes in value, bound by that line rendered in its own shifting hue. All work together to make the weight of her flesh unmistakable. That weight balanced against the confident shapes - themselves often pockets of rich color - of the composition.
