Juror Notes: This is not a painting that radiates joy or play. It is chewy. Heavy with its weighty darks and thick surface. But within that muscularity there is subtlety. The reflection of light along a jaw. The change in color from cheek to eye socket. This is an artist that is not afraid of paint. And that intensity gives this piece a presence perhaps unmatched in the show.
