Juror's Note: I thought that this was a most-complete and absolutely sensational piece. The combination of the story, the beautiful calligraphy of the writing and, at its heart, an exquisitely-realized rose, makes this work a truly worthy selection. It drew me in at first glance and the more time I spent with it, the more I appreciated it.
