Juror's Award: Second Place

Juror's note: Abstracting the landscape is no easy feat. The rocks in this painting are grouped using value and color, dividing the composition into three sections. The sky and foreground sandwich the solid shapes of the boulders, adding a sense of pressure to the motif. The patch of blue sky peeking through the upper left-hand corner provides the cool tones that helps the viewer travel through the painting.
